Lighting technology innovation, such as LED and digitalization, have made accent lighting more popular in recent years. These days it’s not uncommon to have this type of lighting as an integrated feature in home appliances, including some smart home appliances with Home Connect.
Accent lighting is lighting that draws the eye to a particular object or area in the room. It can be neutral or colorful and using it is a sure way to create a certain mood around you.
Kitchens in particular benefit from accent lighting as they’re often equipped with many cabinets and shelves. Here are a few ideas on how to use such lighting in your kitchen.
Light up your appliances*
So, those who have a smart dishwasher and/or a hood with Home Connect, adjusting the light settings is a great way to introduce accent lighting in the kitchen. This doesn't require buying extra lighting gear, and the color and brightness is fully customizable through your smart home app.
Here’s how to light up your dishwasher or your hood:
Choose Dishwasher or Hood from the Appliances section in your Home Connect app.
Once there, you’ll see “Illumination On” for dishwasher or “Decorative Illumination On” for hood listed in Quick Actions. Click on it.
A menu will pop up allowing you to choose the color of the light. You can choose one of the pre-selected colors in the Colour Selection tab or any shade from the color wheel in the Custom Colour tab.
Once you have selected the color you like, click close and enjoy the new colorful mood of your kitchen!
